Wallerstein joins MRA

Matthew Wallerstein, an experienced real estate industry executive, has joined Jericho-based Metropolitan Realty Associates LLC (MRA) as a vice president, according to MRA president Joseph Farkas.
Wallerstein was a vice president at Cambridge Property Group, L.P., an owner/investor/developer in Northern Virginia, before attending Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, where he received an MBA in analytical finance in 2009. He also interned in 2008 in the office of the COO of the Denver-based warehouse giant ProLogis. In addition, Wallerstein co-chaired Kellogg's 2008 real estate industry conference.
"Matt brings exceptional analytical skills and a strong background in real estate to our growing management team and will be a good fit in our organization," said Farkas. "We hope to benefit from Matt's skills and talent as we grow our business through additional acquisitions of both commercial and residential properties in the New York metropolitan area as well as in specific markets across the country."
Wallerstein joins Metropolitan Realty Associates, whose Long Island acquisitions achieved success in a relatively short time, as the firm prepares to make new real estate investments. The company recently acquired 711 Stewart Ave., Garden City, and is planning to redevelop the property as a mixed-use complex called Garden City Square.
Wallerstein received a bachelor of arts degree in Economics from Colby College in Maine in 2001.
He was an offensive guard on the college's varisity football team.
Born in the Boston area and raised in Falls Church, Va., Wallerstein now resides in Manhattan. He enjoys skiing, camping and recreational ice hockey.
