Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP celebrates 45 years and continual growth of its legal practice on Long Island

July 27, 2010 - Long Island
Founded in 1965, this year marks the 45th anniversary of Long Island's second largest full-service law firm, Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP. Certilman Balin renewed a 15-year lease with CLK/HP in 2009 and rebuilt and renovated the 8th and 9th floors at 90 Merrick Ave. Various offices were resized, as well as the library, cafeteria, accounting, reception and central services departments. New conference rooms accommodate the latest technology. The firm replaced the old furnishings, and the new and modern décor enhances the firm's friendly and dynamic culture. That new office space is necessary to accommodate some of the firm's growing practices, namely the Commercial Lending Practice Group, which now consists of six partners and three associates. Now one of the largest on Long Island, this group represents approximately 20 different national, regional and local lenders in documenting numerous types of credit facilities secured by real estate and/or personal property to borrower's ranging from corporations and limited liability companies to not-for-profit entities. The department has expertise with all aspects of real estate lending, SBA guaranteed loans, construction financing, leasehold mortgages, owner-occupied facilities, IDA transactions and multi-state loans as well as acquisition and development loans. The firm's real estate practice is one of the largest on Long Island and represents a wide range of clients, throughout the tri-state area, from closely held businesses to public companies in structuring complicated transactions for retail, industrial, office, hotel and residential developments. Its Real Estate Tax Certiorari and Condemnation Practice Group has saved clients millions of dollars in tax savings and has represented clients in eminent domain proceedings throughout New York and in jurisdictions throughout the country. The Coop/Condo Practice Group continues to be one of the most active in the nation. Since New York State law first allowed the development of condominiums in 1964, this team has represented developers and converters in the filing of more condominium and cooperative offerings than any other firm in the country. Clients' properties can be found throughout New York and across the U.S. and abroad. In 2009, the Long Island Builders Institute inducted Certilman Balin into its Hall of Fame. In addition to the Nassau County Office, the firm has an office in Suffolk County. Over 80 attorneys practice at Certilman Balin in 13 different areas of the law, including: real estate, real property tax certiorari and condemnation, cooperative and condominium, land use and environmental law, corporate/securities, litigation, commercial lending, labor relations/employment law, bankruptcy and debtor/creditor rights, trusts and estates, elder law, municipal law/government relations, and criminal law.
