CPC and RHAC celebrate groundbreaking for sr. housing proj.

Representatives from CPC and Rockland Housing Action Coalition (RHAC) joined with state, county, and local officials on June 23 to celebrate the groundbreaking for Hyenga Lake Senior Housing, a new affordable senior housing project. Formerly a bungalow colony located at 115 East Rte. 59, the 12.4 acre property will house the new 66-unit apartment building. The apartments will be available to seniors 62 years and older who earn 30, 50 and 60% or less of Rockland County's median income. CPC has provided a $6.94 million construction loan with Orange County Trust as the participant and $10.5 million in tax credit equity. CPC will also provide permanent financing through the N.Y. State Pension Fund, of which $2.75 million will be insured by SONYMA. DHCR is providing a $2.4M grant from the New York State Housing Trust Fund (HTF). The project is being co-developed by the Rockland Housing Action Coalition (RHAC) and Howard Hellman and Vincent DeStaso. The project architect is Coppola Associates of Newburgh. The general contractor is Affordable Housing Concepts, LLC. Hyenga Lake Senior Housing will be managed by RHAC.
