Grow your market and business in 2008
December 7, 2007 - Brokerage
Regardless of the economy and real estate cycles, there will always be opportunities. More energy and effort needs to be utilized strategically to make things happen. In order to grow your market and business, I strongly recommend active membership in the Bronx-Manhattan North Association of Realtors. 2008 marks my 25th year as CEO of this professional trade association officially representing the real estate and business community as the local chapter for the New York State and National Association of Realtors (NAR). 2008 also marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of NAR.
I can personally attest to the professionalism, fine character and incredible individuals serving in leadership, the Board of Governors, and on committees of this prestigious association. The organization has a rich history marked by a culture of inclusiveness, dynamic and successful individuals open to network and share their successes in the business. The fact that many of our members cross generational lines which includes 3rd and 4th generation of continued membership is a tribute to the success of the organization and valuable services, programs or networking opportunities sponsored.
Taking advantage of the wide range of programs, services and networking opportunities in 2008 is an excellent business decision in growing your market and business strategically. Being active means networking at the many events sponsored, serving on committees, and or advertising in one or all of the 4 annual publications or the Realtor Professional Edge 16 page monthly newsletter. Cultivating business relationships takes time but it is worth the return on investment. Over the years, I have seen a lot of energetic folks get involved. However, the ones that are most successful are those that are committed over the long term.
The increased inventory and real estate market correction will be beneficial to the growth of the Multiple Listing Service sponsored by Realtor organizations. There is continued momentum by Realtor organizations to implement data sharing which will be very important to the consumers and their demand for rich information instantly. Realtor.com continues to be the #1 Internet site with millions of visitors worldwide.
Through the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) of the Bronx-Manhattan North Association, members can advertise unlimited exclusive listings free. They can also feature virtual tours of their properties. Only the designated Realtor is charged a flat fee which enables up to 15 agents with free MLS service. The current real estate market, low cost of advertising listings on Realtor.com makes sound business sense. Data sharing and access to property listing throughout New York City will be an added benefit.
The organization is composed of a broad base of professionals including licensed real estate brokers and agents; multi-dwelling property owners; building service vendors and suppliers; unlicensed property managers; attorneys; appraisers; banks; mortgage companies; fuel service and energy companies; title and abstract companies; insurance companies and insurance brokers; contractors and other companies servicing the real estate community.
The BMAR is a professional trade association officially representing the real estate industry since 1924 and is the local chapter for the New York State and National Association of Realtors. The association sponsors a wide range of programs and services for all professionals to maintain a competitive advantage.
