Nassau Chapter of the NYS Society of Certified Public Accountants installs Haynie as president

The Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) installed Elizabeth Haynie, CPA, MS of Massapequa as president. She is the second woman president in 59 year history of the Chapter. Haynie is a tax specialist with for Katz, Bernstein and Katz, LLP. Haynie joined the NYSSCPA Nassau Chapter in 1990. She has been president-elect, vice president, secretary and a member of the chapter's Executive Board. She is also the founder of the chapter's Women's Focus Group, chaired the chapter's Membership committee, co-chair of its Newsletter committee and Estate Planning and Personal Financial Planning committee. She was also a member of the chapter's Federal Taxationand College and High School Recruitment committees. She is a member of the Adelphi Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession Advisory Board (COAP). Through its COAP Program, the NYSSCPA and its Foundation for Accounting Education (FAE) offer a learning experience targeted for a residency-based model, developed to expose promising minority high school students to accounting and business careers. Founded in 1987, COAP offers students a tailored curriculum and extensive opportunities to interact with successful minority role models and gain exposure to the corporate environment. Haynie is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She earned her master's degree in taxation from the University of Baltimore and bachelor's degree in accounting from Fordham University. She and her husband, Robert, have three children, Jennifer, Michael and Kimberly. Other newly installed officers for the NYSSCPA Nassau Chapter include Scott Sanders, CPA, PFS, CFP, CFS of Sanders Thaler & Associates, LLP as president-elect; Robert Barnett, Esq., CPA of Capell Barnett Matalon & Schoenfeld as vice president; Philip Kanyuk, CPA of Holtz Rubenstein Reminick LLP as treasurer and Lynne Fuentes, CPA as secretary. Representing more than 28,000 CPAs, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) is the first state accounting organization in the nation. Incorporated in 1897, the Society is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to establish and maintain high standards of integrity, honor, and character among certified public accountants. Its members are CPAs working in public firms, industry, government and education in a state that serves as the home of Wall Street and major financial institutions.
