Mc Gowan Builders hold 8th Annual Charitable Golf Classic; Raises $100,000 for Down Syndrome scholarship/programs

Mc Gowan Builders, Inc. held the Mc Gowan Builders 8th Charitable Golf Classic at the Emerson Golf Club. The annual event raised $100,000 for The Loretta Mc Gowan Foundation, which funds programs and organizations that support individuals and families living with Down Syndrome. CBS network's "The Early Show" anchor Dave Price served as the master of ceremonies for the raffle fundraiser and luncheon that followed the golf outing. Nearly 150 leading New Jersey and Greater New York area real estate, architecture, and construction professionals attended the event. Patrick Mc Gowan, The Loretta Mc Gowan Foundation board chairman and Mc Gowan Builders president and CEO, said, "Thank you all for your generous contributions to the cause of Down Syndrome support and research. The funds we raised today will help establish The Loretta Mc Gowan Scholarship Fund and benefit the Sisters of La Sagesse Services Cregg House in Sligo, Ireland." In addition to Mc Gowan Builders, several Tri-state area AEC organizations provided significant contributions to the golf outing and The Loretta Mc Gowan Foundation. These included: Crana Electric, Inc.; Sigma Electric, Inc.; Abbylara Construction; ACE Reprographics; C&H Agency; FJM Ferro, Inc.; Gotham Drywall Inc.; Nevco Contracting, Inc.; and Transworld Material Resourcing. The $170,000 Loretta Mc Gowan Scholarship Fund will provide complete funding, including tuition, board, and study materials for students in four-year undergraduate special education programs focused on children with Down Syndrome. The Loretta Mc Gowan Foundation, the Mc Gowan family, and Mc Gowan Builders will fund the scholarship. The first scholarship will be awarded this summer to a freshman at Felician College: The Franciscan College of New Jersey. Felician is an independent, Catholic, co-educational Franciscan College founded and sponsored by the Felician Sisters. The college has campuses in Lodi and Rutherford. The foundation's beneficiaries include The Candle Lighters and The Stepping Stones Early Intervention and School in Livingston, N.J. and Sisters of La Sagesse Services Cregg House in Sligo, Ireland.
