Lee Wasserman, LEW Corp.

What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2013? I feel fortunate to have had two. #1. Being requested by Enterprise Community Partners (HUD Washington's Contractor) to assist and Meet with the Commissioner of the NJ Dept. of Health to discuss best practices and strategies to address the Moisture Intrusion and other suspect environmental concerns related to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. #2 Being recognized by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development as a recognized national lead-based paint subject expert by incorporating such recognition into the acknowledgments of the most recently released HUD - Guidelines for the Evaluation and Control of Lead-Based Paint and Lead Hazards. What was your most notable project, deal or transaction in 2013? LEW Corp. has been actively assisting both NY & NJ residents with properly complying with their environmental needs related to the impact of Hurricane Sandy. LEW Corp. has been actively assisting the State of NJ awarded Project managers (CBI & Gilbane) with the HUD required Lead-based paint, asbestos and microbial assessments as directed. To date, LEW Corp. has assisted with several hundred private and public properties. LEW Corp. is also assisting both NYC (Rebuild the Rockaways) and the awarded NJ contractors with the HUD and State required remediation of Lead-Based Paint & Hazards, Asbestos and Mold growth. What are your predictions for commercial real estate in 2014? Mold and lead paint litigation will rise for several reasons; sandy, carpet baggers, news flashes about rebuild and difficulties associated with moisture intrusion and other contaminants from "black water" events, new mold/allergy related studies, CDC lowered level of blood lead level of concern, epa renovation, repair & painting rule begin to hits 5 year anniversary and renewal of both firm and supervisor certifications. The above coupled with a growing tenancy philosophy of litigation, leads me to hypothesize that environmental litigation will rise!! Mark my words. What are your resolutions for 2014? To exercise more, to spend more time with family and friends and to work smarter (maybe harder). To take some time out of the year to educate myself in something new that i have had an interest in, such as art classes or cooking classes. Most importantly to continually work towards being the best person I can be, in the eyes of myself!
