Rudin names McKessey head of design and construction across Rudin’s entire portfolio
Manhattan, NY Rudin has welcomed Steven McKessey to the firm as head of design and construction, overseeing Rudin’s 13.1-million s/f commercial and multifamily portfolio.
A capital projects executive with more than two decades of experience spanning construction management and strategic consulting on large-scale projects, McKessey will direct capital planning, design and construction activities for all Rudin properties. He will also help ensure all future development and redevelopment projects are delivered on time, on budget and aligned with Rudin’s commitment to the highest standards of quality construction.
“Steven comes to Rudin with a deep breadth of experience in creating premier developments in New York and the Tri-State Region,” said Samantha Rudin, co-CEO of Rudin. “He brings the leadership skills and technical expertise to deliver the highest standards of excellence to our customers across our portfolio.”
McKessey joins Rudin after nearly seven years at Cumming Group, the largest pure-play provider of project management and cost management services in the United States, where he most recently served as executive vice president and co-lead for the Tri-State Region. During his tenure, he led the project management team for a new 1-million s/f office in Lower Manhattan, supported a 1.2-million s/f office-to-residential conversion and oversaw multiple interior fit-outs for high-profile office tenants.
McKessy said, “Across four generations of leadership, Rudin has continuously raised the standard for New York City office and residential developments. I look forward to working with co-CEOs Samantha and Michael Rudin and the firm’s deep bench of design and construction professionals to further build upon the family’s great legacy.”
In addition to his work at Cumming Group, McKessey previously served as a design and construction strategy consultant and manager at both McKinsey & Company and Accenture. He started his career at Turner Construction, where he spent a decade as an engineer and project manager. McKessey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Temple University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
