New York restaurant group acquires Upper West Side retail co-op for $4.135 million in deal arranged by Lee & Associates NYC
Manhattan, NY According to Lee & Associates NYC, the ownership group behind Friedman’s Restaurant, Pastrami Queen and other restaurant concepts has acquired a 5,000 s/f retail cooperative unit at 541-555 Amsterdam Ave. on the Upper West Side for $4.135 million.
Peter Braus, president of Lee & Associates NYC, represented the buyer, Mountain View Acquisition LLC. The seller, 176 West 87th Leasehold LLC, a family LLC, was represented by Brandon Polakoff and his team at Avison Young. Joshua Stein acted as the seller’s representative and counsel.
The property is home to Barney Greengrass, the restaurant and appetizing shop, as well as Hudson & Charles, a neighborhood butcher shop. Both businesses will remain in place following the sale.
The new owners will occupy an existing vacant restaurant space at the property, where they plan to open a new Friedman’s Restaurant location tailored to appeal to the neighborhood.
“The Group is expanding its footprint in a top location on the Upper West Side, while also keeping a New York institution intact and operating for years to come,” said Braus.
