Decade Answers: Robert Hebron

Robert Hebron IV is an associate broker at Ingram & Hebron Realty, Brooklyn N.Y. What was one of your corporate or career highlights of the decade? Moving in 2004 with my wife and children from a 2,500 s/f house on three acres in rural Oregon to join the family commercial real estate firm specializing in downtown Brooklyn office leasing. I went from working at home with a view of our horses and snow-capped mountains to a New York City office building with a view of the downtown Brooklyn post office! But I am a New York City native and we love it and are thriving here, so no regrets. It doesn't take an oracle to envision a leveling off of the downturn and a commercial lending rebound (although perhaps never to previous levels). Brooklyn will continue its current direction of becoming a world class city in its own right, ultimately shedding the second class comparisons and perceptions to Manhattan. There have been fits and starts and change is initially (and sometimes vociferously) resisted, but the momentum is undeniable. One look at the skyline and waterfront compared to five years ago will offer compelling proof of this as will the soon be heard: "Go Brooklyn Nets!"
