Cronan of Trinity Building: Be proactive rather than reactive

Name: Jennifer L. Cronan, P.E. Title: Sr. Construction Management Company Name: Trinity Building + Construction Management Corp. Follow my company on Twitter @ https://twitter.com/TRINITYBCM What recent project or transaction are you most proud of? I was the construction manager for the renovations to the Peddocks Island Chapel. This job was interesting because the bulk of the work was completed during the winter, and the only access to the site was via barge. The team worked very closely together and all were very proud when the historic beauty of this old, run-down structure was brought back to life. Who or what has been the strongest influence on your career and why? The people I work with have been most influential to me as I've moved through various careers and worked with different teams and on different projects. I treasure the relationships that I've built throughout the years with so many creative and intelligent people. Those people have taught me so much and inspired me to take on new challenges that I would have never considered or perhaps not even known about! What is the first thing you do when you arrive in the office in the morning? Turn on my computer and get my second cup of coffee... What time management strategies do you find to be the most effective for you? I always try to be proactive rather than reactive. I try to prioritize the items on my to-do list so that I am taking care of the urgent items as soon as I can. What is the best advice you have received and who was it from? When my mother was teaching me to play golf, and I was nervous about playing with a group of men, she told me, "Don't worry about how long the guys hit it, half the time they're hitting it into the woods or the water! Hit it straight and consistently and you'll be able to play right along with them." List 3 women that you would like to have drinks / dinner with and where would you go? Anywhere with Stephanie Loeffel, Emily Loverin and Danielle Ruzicka, my three closest friends from growing up. I have more interest in having a conversation with good, old friends who I haven't gotten to see in a long time, than meeting someone famous. What is your favorite quote? 'All's well that ends well'... which is so true in construction! What did you want to be when you grew up? Seeing the destruction of ocean front properties during the many hurricanes I witnessed growing up in Scituate, MA, made me want to be an engineer - in hopes that I could in some way prevent or lessen the impact of the storms.
