Barbara Champoux, David Zar, Robert Khodadadian and Mark Stumer discuss the NYREJ's 30th Anniversary

Barbara Champoux

Barbara Champoux, Principal, Champoux Law Group PLLC

What year did you discover the NYREJ and how has been a benefit to you and/or your business? I discovered NYREJ in 2004, when serving as president of NYCREW, a predecessor to CREW New York. The organization had recently been launched, and was building its brand and credibility. NYREJ was very supportive of those efforts, and remains so to this day.
Which NYREJ article has been the most memorable for you or your firm? I have been fortunate to contribute, and be referenced in, NYREJ articles over the years, both as a CREWNY leader, and law firm leader, so it is hard to pick a favorite. One of my most memorable NYREJ experiences was participating in one of its CRE Podcasts, “Infrastructure Challenges and Opportunities,” on Oct. 21, 2014.
Which monthly features or spotlights are your favorite? I am not sure of the name, but my favorite features are those focused on substantive topics.
What kept you up at night in 1989 and what keeps you up at night in 2019? In 1989, as a very young associate, “Am I doing the right things to build client relationships and make partner?” In 2019, When will the construction boom, bust, and what will be the ramifications?

David Zar

David Zar, Principal, Zar Property NY

What year did you discover the NYREJ and how has been a benefit to you and/or your business?
I have been proudly reading New York Real Estate Journal for nearly 15 years and it has always been a relevant and valuable source of up-to-date market information.

Robert Khodadadian

Robert Khodadadian, President & CEO, Skyline Properties

What year did you discover the NYREJ and how has been a benefit to you and/or your business?
I was first made aware of NYREJ when their publishing director, Kristine Wolf reached out to me in 2013 to congratulate me on opening Skyline and to inform me that she was on our new company website and noticed a typo on the word “syndication.”
Which NYREJ article has been the most memorable for you or your firm? For me it had to be when I was nominated as NYREJ Executive of the Month in July of 2014. Reason being that my father had just past away and I accepted it in his memory. More importantly, NYREJ allowed me to include his picture in the release. https://nyrej.com/executive-of-the-month-robert-khodadadian-of-skyline-properties-an-entrepreneur-evolving-with-changing-markets-providing-optimal-results
Which monthly features or spotlights are your favorite? Company of the Month

Mark Stumer

Mark Stumer, Principal, Mojo Stumer Associates

What year did you discover the NYREJ and how has been a benefit to you and/or your business?  Mojo Stumer has been a subscriber to NYREJ for the past 20 years and it has benefitted our business by keeping us up-to-date with local and regional construction and real estate news and events.
Which NYREJ article has been the most memorable for you or your firm? Articles announcing our projects receiving awards is always a memorable moment.
Which monthly features or spotlights are your favorite? Any articles mentioning Mojo Stumer Associates.
What kept you up at night in 1989 and what keeps you up at night in 2019? In 1989, new business kept us up at night, and in 2019, new business still keeps us up. So we must be doing something right.
