Celebrating leadership: Dolan’s Legacy at BOMA NY

As Patrick Dolan, RPA, prepares to conclude his two-year term as chair of BOMA New York’s board of directors this December, we reflect on a period of remarkable leadership that has strengthened our organization and elevated New York City’s commercial real estate industry. Patrick’s chairmanship has been characterized by unwavering commitment to member success, forward-thinking advocacy, and a clear vision for the future of our industry.

Throughout his tenure, Patrick has championed the priorities that define modern commercial real estate: sustainability and energy efficiency, technological innovation, workplace wellness, and professional development. His leadership has helped BOMA New York members navigate complex regulatory requirements, embrace emerging technologies, and position their properties as premier destinations for tenants seeking exceptional workplace environments. Under his guidance, our organization has remained at the forefront of industry innovation while staying true to our core mission of advocacy, education, and community.

Patrick’s emphasis on professional development has been particularly impactful. He has consistently advocated for continuing education and industry credentials, understanding that investing in our workforce is essential to maintaining NYC’s competitive advantage. His support for our mentorship program ‘Emerging Leaders’, educational seminars, and scholarship initiatives has created pathways for emerging professionals to advance their expertise while connecting with experienced industry leaders. This commitment to workforce development addresses one of the industry’s most critical challenges and ensures a strong pipeline of qualified professionals for years to come.

As a thought leader, Patrick has used his platform to address the trends reshaping our industry. From the integration of artificial intelligence in building management to the evolution of workplace design that prioritizes hospitality and tenant experience, he has helped members understand and adapt to rapid change. His support of the Pinnacle Awards’ role in celebrating excellence and promoting best practices has reinforced BOMA New York’s reputation as the standard-bearer for quality in commercial real estate.

One of Patrick’s most meaningful contributions has been his instrumental role in relaunching the Skyscrapers for Life program in partnership with New York Blood Center. Originally created by MetLife in 1997, this initiative brings together property management leaders throughout New York City and Long Island in a friendly competition to save lives through blood donation. Under Patrick’s leadership, BOMA New York has revitalized this important program, encouraging commercial properties to host blood drives and recognizing outstanding participants at our annual holiday luncheon. This commitment to community service exemplifies the broader impact that our industry can have beyond building operations.

Patrick’s collaborative approach and dedication to member engagement have strengthened the bonds within our community. His leadership during board meetings, industry events, and the annual Pinnacle Awards celebration has exemplified the professionalism and commitment that define BOMA New York. He has represented our organization with distinction, ensuring that NYC’s voice remains influential in shaping the future of commercial real estate.

As Patrick prepares to pass the chairmanship to new leadership, we extend our deepest gratitude for his service, vision, and dedication. His legacy will continue to benefit BOMA New York members and the broader commercial real estate community for years to come. We look forward to his continued involvement as a valued member and trusted advisor as we build upon the strong foundation he has helped create.

Thank you, Pat, for your exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to BOMA New York’s mission and members.
