Brookhaven IDA closes on benefits pact for Nassau Provisions expansion

August 13, 2024 - Long Island

Holtsville, NY Frederick Braun III, chairman of the Town of Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency (IDA) said that the IDA has closed on an agreement to provide economic development incentives for the planned expansion of a kosher grocery distributor.

The benefits, approved by the IDA at its March meeting, will assist Nassau Provisions Kosher Food LLC, and its real estate affiliate, 885 Waverly LLC, to purchase and equip an underutilized 50,000 s/f building at 885 Waverly Ave.

The company says it needs the space to house a pending acquisition that will generate an anticipated 40-60% increase in sales.

Nassau Provisions also owns a 125,000 s/f facility near the project at 700 Furrows Rd. in Islip , which the company uses as its headquarters and is retaining.

The cost of the expansion is estimated at $9.96 million. The company employs 103 in Islip and expects to add 17 new positions at the Brookhaven site.

Established in Freeport in 1984 by Scott Horowitz, Nassau Provisions specializes in the wholesale distribution of groceries, and frozen and refrigerated foods to the retail market throughout the tri-state area and beyond, serving supermarkets, restaurants, convenience stores, and delis.

“The company’s growth has been impressive and we are pleased to assist them as they expand into the Town of Brookhaven,” Braun said.
