Brandl Frey of The Durst Organization

What are your predictions for commercial real estate in 2012? Midway through 2011, I was optimistic about the market, we skidded over the summer and into the fall with the debt crisis although things appear to be turning back around with recent gains in the stock market, a dip in unemployment and more stability in Europe. Our residential division has experienced both sales and rentals performing well which is also a positive indicator. What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2011? I am wrapping up my year as chairman of the Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association which has been a terrific and challenging experience. It was an incredible honor to be elected to this position having been involved with the organization for the past seven years. This year I closed my first deals at The Durst Organization and am now working on the leasing and marketing of all of our Midtown office properties as well as One World Trade Center. What was your most notable project, deal or transaction in 2011? Working on the leasing and marketing team for One World Trade Center is a great honor. It has been incredibly rewarding to be part of the team and to have a front row seat in the development of the most important building being built in the world. I hit the ground here running and in my first year with Durst have already closed a handful of deals with others teed up to close early next year. What are your resolutions for 2012? This coming year I would like to learn how to row with the goal of participating in the Head of the Charles Regatta one day.
