Name: Aliza Avital Title: Director Company/firm: Eastern Consolidated Years with company/firm: 8 Years in field: 8 Years in real estate industry: 8 Address: 355 Lexington Avenue, NYC 10017 Telephone: 646-658-7345 Email: [email protected] URL: http://www.easternconsolidated.com Real estate organizations / affiliations: REBNY What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2010? 2010 was a resurgent year in the real estate industry. It was the year that I got back into stride, with multiple deals in the works and closing. In fact, many brokers would say that surviving in the industry until 2010 was a feat in itself. It was inevitable that the market would begin to turn for the better. A good 2010 did not just happen. It had to be anticipated and prepared for. In the downtime that preceded it, I was careful to preserve and enlarge my contact base, and to be cognizant of what saleable deals might be coming to the market when conditions improved. I marshaled my resources, kept a positive attitude, and tried to keep up the morale of those around me. I am now capable of being more creative in helping clients achieve their goals, and this translates into successful closings. How do you manage the work/life balance? Availability, affability, and ability: are the qualities needed for success in our industry. Like the vast majority of the successful people I know, I love what I do. Being successful makes you love your job more, and the more you love your job, the more successful you inevitably become. Forget the conventional wisdom of separating your life from your work, and don't count the number of hours you work. Learn to understand, and genuinely empathize with your clients. You will find that many of them truly become your friends, due to your common interests and goals.
