2025 Year in Review: Jeffrey Ulrich, CetraRuddy

Jeffrey Ulrich, AIA
Principal
CetraRuddy

What accomplishment, milestone, project or transaction stood out for you or your firm in 2025?
This has been a very exciting period for CetraRuddy, with growth in our office and significant projects. In the past year-plus, we’ve named two new principals, including myself, and eight associate principals. We were also proud to complete the country’s largest-ever office-to-residential conversion -- SoMA at 25 Water St., with 1,320 apartments and 100,000 s/f of amenities - and to be part of the team for the Avenir casino resort proposal on Manhattan’s West Side. It has been rewarding for our whole firm to take on these challenges and uncover new solutions.

What emerging trends or shifts will shape opportunities for you, your firm, or market sector in 2026?
Our team continues to see substantial office-to-residential conversion activity, not just across more neighborhoods in New York City but in national markets too. On the new construction side, we’re also pursuing opportunities for large-scale, multi-building developments in New Jersey and elsewhere in the metro region, and our multifamily and mixed-use work in South Florida is accelerating as well. In general we see the urgent need for housing production driving conversations for 2026, and to that end we’re happy to be nearing completion on multiple fully-affordable Passive House developments, offering resilient solutions to meet the needs of our city.
