2025 Year in Review: Bobby Valva, Cancos Tile and Stone

Bobby Valva
CEO
Cancos Tile and Stone

What transaction, project, or key moment best reflected the direction of the New York CRE market this year?

For us, the most telling moment wasn’t a single blockbuster sale, but a wave of adaptive reuse and repositioning projects we supplied across New York City this year. We work with owners who are reimagining existing assets by upgrading older office and retail spaces, converting underutilized buildings into mixed-use or residential properties, and refreshing lobbies, amenities, and outdoor areas instead of doing ground-up development. Those clients are asking us for durable, design-forward finishes that can handle heavy traffic, elevate the tenant experience, and justify higher rents in a cautious capital markets environment.

What emerging trends or shifts will shape opportunities for you, your firm, or market sector in 2026?

We see more projects moving toward earlier collaboration from owners and specifiers, bringing suppliers like Cancos into the conversation at the planning and budgeting stage. That’s where we add real value: helping architects, designers, and contractors select coordinated finish packages, lock in pricing, and plan inventory so projects can move faster with fewer surprises.
