2021 Year in Review: Jeremy Plofker, Urban Standard Capital

Name: Jeremy Plofker

Job Title: Vice President

Company Name: Urban Standard Capital

How has your working environment changed over the last year?
My work environment changed from being jobsite- and office-based to being productive from locations that bring joy to other parts of my life, primarily the waters of eastern Long Island, the mountains of the Pacific Northwest and family hubs located around the country. Fondness for the tangible experience of physically meeting at development properties and observing progress unites professionals across our industry. That said, the digitization of the world in which we manage these projects has enabled greater productivity and effective communication from anywhere [with WiFi] than we ever could have envisioned and resulted in a rebalancing of how we distribute time amongst different working environments.

What was the biggest lesson you learned while working during the pandemic?
Developing and strengthening relationships based on respect and transparency are much more valuable than ever before. No contractor, vendor, developer, lender evaded pandemic hardship and only those relationships based on trust and respect were able to survive by working together to make the best of the situation.
