2021 Year in Review: Emir Hot, Matrix Technology Group LLC

Name: Emir Hot

Job Title: Managing Owner

Company Name: Matrix Technology Group LLC

What are your predictions for your industry in 2022?
We are a technology infrastructure company focused on commercial interior work. Our industry was hit hard as interior fitouts declined as a result of COVID and most employees working in a remote or hybrid capacity. I think that 2022 will see an increase in commercial interior work as employers and employees look to return to offices and retail. The investment in collaboration and interactive technologies will continue to increase as employers seek to attract their employees back to the office. The remote and hybrid models are allowing this work to take place with minimal disruption and smart occupiers are making the investment sooner.

What was the biggest lesson you learned while working during the pandemic?
Keep moving forward. The pandemic introduced many changes and challenges in the last 18 months. It can feel paralyzing at times to deal with the stresses of labor shortages, changing safety mandates, supply chain issues and many other challenges. Moving forward is critical to making progress in getting back to normal.

How has your working environment changed over the last year?
The shift to virtual collaboration was accelerated over the last year. Our interaction with clients and each other became increasingly virtual with on site meetings reserved for special meetings and activities that can only be performed as such. The value of in person collaboration increased as it became rarer.

What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2021?
I am proud of our teams and the large number of projects we were able to deliver for our regional and national clients. We delivered over 90 projects this year across 15+ states and three countries. With all the challenges with supply chain and labor shortages, our people made it possible.
