2021 Year in Review: Christine Barshtak, Finaly General Contracting Corp.

Name: Christine Barshtak

Job Title: President

Company Name: Finaly General Contracting Corp.

What was the biggest lesson you learned while working during the pandemic?
Nothing matters if you don’t have your health. All the money, all the prestige, all the success – none of it.

What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2021?
It’s between two projects: a tenant buildout at 111 West 33rd St. from February to June 2021 that was two weeks ahead of schedule—which is unheard of as it is but during a pandemic—was quite an accomplishment. Secondly, doing a tenant build out at the very prestigious One Vanderbilt Ave. stands out for us.

What are your predictions for your industry in 2022?
Tenants will want to move spaces again—and someone must build them!

How has your working environment changed over the last year?
We are pretty much back to our pre-pandemic lives. We were essential during the COVID shut down and have been back to work since June 2020 – so at this point it feels like 2019. Minus all the holiday parties!

What is the best advice you received in 2021, and who was it from?
The best advice always will be from my mother, “This too shall pass”
