2021 Women in CRE: Dana Moskowitz, Resolution Real Estate Partners

Name: Dana Moskowitz

Title: Partner

Company Name: Resolution Real Estate Partners (a member of NAI Global)

In the past year, what project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of?
First and foremost, I am proud our team stayed together throughout the lockdowns and limitations precipitated by COVID-19. Despite so many challenges, we were still able to work on several transactions over the past year. As a property owner, keeping tenants in the buildings was key and I negotiated workouts with many tenants that helped them survive. It is the same acumen that also enabled me to continue brokering transactions during the height of the pandemic, helping tenants navigate these uncharted waters, especially concerning lease extensions and sub-leases. I am delighted that we have not only survived but are well on the road to a great recovery.

What books or social media influencers would you recommend to other women?
I follow Barbara Corcoran on Instagram and love it! As a businesswoman and mother, I find her posts inspiring, encouraging, funny and relatable. Her stories combine her professional and personal lives with humility and humanity.

How do you contribute to your community and profession?
I am on the member of Leadership Board of NAI Global, the largest group of independently owned commercial real estate firms in the world, and much of my focus is promoting collaboration amongst the members in very varied geographic areas. In addition, I serve on the commercial board of directors of REBNY, working to develop more inclusive relationships in our profession. This is a constantly evolving industry that is just starting to embrace diversity and I am committed to being an integral part of this change.

How do you keep your team motivated despite conflicts and obstacles?
In this industry you are always experiencing highs and lows. But I am part of a great team who collectively face the challenges inherent to our industry. By working together and maintaining a common focus, we are able to meet our objectives. Collaborating with my colleagues at Resolution and experiencing similar obstacles, enables us to find solutions together.

How do you advocate for your fellow women in the real estate?
As part of the Women’s Alliance of NAI Global, I speak and work with other women to create opportunities. We share “war” stories and come up with ways to make our voices heard, which helps incentivize us to persevere. Commercial real estate has been less than welcoming to women, historically. But as someone who, ostensibly, grew up in the business, and has been a commercial real estate broker for nearly 20 years, I can attest to a changing landscape for which we should all be proud and excited for the future.

Why should women consider a career in commercial real estate and related services?
This is an industry that enables you to make connections that can be motivating and inspiring, not to mention extremely lucrative. As a woman, being in commercial real estate sets you apart, which can present many personal challenges and triumphs. I was told very early on in my career that you need to have a thick skin and a strong stomach to make it in this business, but that attitude has served me well in many areas of my life.

Tell us a thing or two about you that is NOT on your resume or LinkedIn profile?
I am an avid tennis player and love to hit the ball very hard! Every winter, you’ll find me in Vail skiing in the back bowls.
