What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2017?
Being recognized as one of 2017’s Pioneering Women in Real Estate in NYC last March. Such an empowering recognition. I was honored to see my efforts as well as many of my female peers’ efforts advancing women’s positions in our industry. Congrats to the all the women being recognized in 2018...keep moving on up!
If you have had a mentor in your career, who was it and what did they teach you?
One of my most impactful mentors is Judy Nitsch of Nitsch Engineering in Boston, MA. I worked for her civil engineering firm as a Northeastern CoOp student, not realizing that my grandfather (also a civil engineer) had been Judy’s mentor. So fortunate fate brought us together. Judy is a true leader in the building industry...she began the annual “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day” during my time as an intern to educate young women about careers in engineering. She sent me to my first SMPS event in Boston to enforce the power of networking and a decade later, made a trip to NYC to speak at SMPS NY’s THE Marketing Conference when I was on the Board of Directors. Most recently, Judy sat on the Board of Directors for CREW Network and encouraged me to step up as part of the local chapter. I am currently serving my second year as Chair of the Foundation Committee for CREW NY.
When I am not working I am…
Perfecting my homemade pasta making abilities with my Italian husband. We also grow up to seven varieties heirloom tomatoes on our balcony in Brooklyn annually (almost time to plant again!) and continue to work on creating the perfect sauce to complement our pasta dishes.
