2017 Year in Review: Marc Landis, Phillips Nizer LLP

Name & Title: Marc Landis, Managing Partner

Company Name: Phillips Nizer LLP

Address: 666 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10103

What was your most notable project, deal, transaction or professional achievement in 2017?

Completion of deployment of initial $100 million equity fund through leveraged acquisition of $250 million in Manhattan and Brooklyn multifamily transactions, and kickoff of $300 million equity raise for second fund.

What was the best decision you made in 2017 and why?

The best decision that we made in 2017 was to expand our real estate practice.  We are excited to have added three new partners this year — Jay Kim, Tom Fuerth and Lisa Radetsky — along with other attorneys and paralegals, and expect an even busier year in 2018. Phillips Nizer’s Real Estate Practice Group is well-positioned to provide sophisticated and cost-effective counsel to close deals in this fast paced, ever-changing economic environment.

What trends will impact your business in 2018?

We expect that continued concerns over worldwide economic trends and the on-going absence of safe investment opportunities will mean that U.S. real estate in general, and the New York metro area in particular, will continue to be the subject of strong demand for investment-grade real estate, especially in the multifamily and mixed-use sectors.
