How have you navigated obstacles to achieve success in your career? A major obstacle faced by most women attorneys is achieving the work-life balance. While all working professionals struggle with this, women have added difficulty because they give birth to children and then require maternity leave. I know that taking 10 weeks of maternity leave was tough on my career. I was constantly thinking about work and clients. That was one of the reasons I left general practice and went to a real estate law firm. A real estate practice allows for more flexibility in working environments and rarely requires a court appearance. This switch has certainly helped my career.

How do you play your strengths to your advantage in your career? One of my biggest strengths is my attention to detail. Despite most real estate contracts being boilerplate documents, I review each one carefully. I find this to be helpful, especially for first time buyers who really have no knowledge of real estate law. They like to be completely informed of all their obligations, as well as, the seller’s obligations. I also over prepare for any transaction. I triple check all the figures and make sure my clients’ rights are fully protected. I want my clients to always feel fully confident in my representation of them. What trends are you seeing so far this year?:So far this year I have seen quite a few first time home-buyers entering the real estate market. While our practice has a large focus on Manhattan, I am seeing many first time buyers opting out of Manhattan for places like, Brooklyn and Long Island City.

What do you do for fun? For fun, I enjoy running and spending time with husband and daughter.
