How did you get your start in real estate?

Trained by a partner/mentor in a prior firm

What real estate associations or organizations are you a member of?

American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), Real Estate Division; International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC); WILEF (Women in Law Empowerment Forum - Chair of Young Lawyers Committee); The Abraham Joshua Heschel School (former president of the board); The Alan B. Slifka Foundation; Congregation B’nai Jeshurun (board member)

What recent honor, achievement or recognition has meant the most to you and why?

Receiving recognition from Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, a vibrant, active community that engages in important work of social action and that means so much to me and to my family.

What have been some of the benefits of being a mentor or having a mentor?

Acting as a mentor to so many young women attorneys in our firm (both in the NY and Boston offices) has been as rewarding to me as (I hope) helpful to my mentees. There is little that is more exciting than working with a young attorney - either to help her with business development issues, office or practice area problems or even working with her to provide assistance in managing all aspects of her life, both personal and professional. It has been hugely satisfying and I feel privileged to have extraordinary relationships with so many young women in our firm.

Who or what has been the strongest influence on your career and why?

I have been fortunate to have had several mentors during my career, all of whom have had a profound effect on me and on my career. One of them, Jim Bloch (a partner in the first firm I joined) was always available for support. He was a huge source of encouragement and teaching in so many ways, making sure that I was involved in exciting transactions, throwing me into deals and giving me meaningful responsibility and making me feel that I could accomplish anything. I have tried to model that behavior for those young attorneys with whom I work now.
