How did you get your start in real estate?
I started out as an agent in a commercial real estate brokerage.
What recent project or transaction are you most proud of?
The sale of a 37-unit multifamily in Brooklyn. The contract signed in 24 hours and the deal closed in 10 days. This was an off-market transaction in which the owner had an offer with a multiple of 16 and we came in with a multiple of 17.5.
What recent honor, achievement or recognition has meant the most to you and why?
In addition, to recently receiving my masters in Finance, I launched a secondary division to my firm, focusing on short term lending, mezzanine and bridge loans for multifamily and mixed use properties in the tristate area.
Who or what has been the strongest influence on your career and why?
My clients are my strongest influence. They keep me challenged and motivated to work hard and succeed.
What time management strategies do you find to be the most effective for you?
I’ve found morning hours are the most productive for me. I get most of my calls in from 9-12 in the morning. I use the afternoons for meetings and follow ups with my sales team.
What is the best advice you have received and who was it from?
A successful real estate entrepreneur taught me it’s not about working harder, it’s about working smarter.
When you launched your business what were some challenges that you experienced?
When I opened my business I needed to focus on allocating my time between running the office and being productive with my primary task of real estate brokering.
How did you overcome them?
I learned to aggregate my time between the needs and requirements of my agents and clients. I’ve also learned to prioritize and delegate tasks that don’t require my attention to others in my office.
What was a significant milestone or achievement for your company?
Our recent launch of a bridge and mezzanine lending division.
What advice would you give to a woman who is planning to launch her own business?
As long as you do your due diligence and research, being a woman is irrelevant. Always be prepared for meetings, presentations and calls with clients.
How do you empower other women in your workplace?
We constantly challenge each other. We set goals and we raise the bar once those goals are met.
