Location: New York, NY

Birthplace: Washington, D.C.

First job outside of architecture/interior design: Sailing instructor

First job in architecture/interior design: I began my career working with small design oriented architecture practices in Boston and NYC before transitioning into a larger role at Guenther 5 (G5), which was eventually absorbed by Perkins+Will in 2008.

What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? In my new associate principal role, my responsibilities include more new business development; marketing outreach; regional and national collaborations and representing the New York office’s healthcare leadership group. I’ll continue to help redefine, what healthcare design is, and seek to expand its influence toward healthier environments for all fields and disciplines.

How do you unwind from a busy day in architecture/interior design? Cycling or playing soccer with my son.

Favorite book or author: John Steinbeck

Favorite movie: “Brazil”

One word to describe your work environment: Invigorating

Rules to live by in business: Find the synergies between a client’s needs, desires, and means. Build strong, trusting client relationships by making sure they feel understood and supported by the design team. Keep your eye on the final built product to ensure success for all.

If you could invite one person to dinner (living or dead, but not related to you) who would it be and where would you go? Carlo Scarpa at Antoine’s Restaurant in New Orleans.

What is your DREAM job? (something other than your current job) Sculptor or tug boat captain…funny, being an architect is a blend of both.
