Daniel Kolomeets- Darovsky, GridMarket

Name: Daniel Kolomeets-Darovsky
Title: Director, Partnerships
Company: GridMarket
Location: Durham, NC
Birthplace: Moscow, Russia
Education: B.A. from New York University; Masters of Environmental Management from Duke University.
First job outside of real estate: Organizational culture development for the restaurant industry.
First job in real estate or allied field: Solar energy development and finance on the U.S. East Coast.
What do you do now and what are you planning for the future? Lead strategy and development for GridMarket's push in the energy storage space as an integrator-as-a-service provider. I plan on leading a company on the leading edge of our most pressing environmental issues as they relate to sustainable energy and economic development, focusing on distributed energy resources as a means to tackle holistic 21st century challenges.
How do you unwind from a busy day in real estate?
Nothing beats a way to get your mind off things like the physical, social and skill development aspects of regular pick-up basketball. You really do leave it all on the court.
Favorite book or author: "The Tao Te Ching"
Favorite movie: "The Lion King"
Last song you purchased/downloaded? Leon Bridges, "Coming Home."
One word to describe your work environment: Casual.
Rules to live by in business: It's all about the people and the relationships you have with them. Stripped down to its elements, nothing is more human than business. "If you're lucky enough to do well, it's your responsibility to send the elevator back down." - Kevin Spacey
If you could invite one person to dinner (living or dead) who would it be and where would you go? I'd take Robin Williams to John's in the West Village.
What is your dream job? Livin' it.
