Partners Anthony Barton and Judy Simoncic of Forchelli, Curto, Crowe, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo and Cohn, LLP negotiated the sale of approximately 25 acres of the 30 acre Smithers Estate to the County of Nassau for $7.8 million. The county acquired the land under its environmental bond open space program. Simoncic secured all required zoning approvals to subdivide the property from the involved municipalities of the Villages of Mill Neck and Martinecock. Barton and Simoncic worked with the county to reach mutual agreeable terms, so that under the sale, the property is to be preserved as open space and used by county residents as a passive park.
