Brooklyn, NY Greenpoint Landing, a 22-acre development site that stretches for half a mile along the borough’s waterfront, weclomed its first tenant, Eleva, a specialty coffee bar. The retailer took 1,000 s/f at 7 Bell Slip. The 25-seat café serves sustainably-sourced coffee from Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Ethiopia, all imported, then craft roasted in Queens. The new café is Eleva’s second, and largest, location in the borough.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Eleva,” said Marian Klein, president of Park Tower Group, the master developer behind Greenpoint Landing. “As our project has continued to transform with public greenspace, a waterfront esplanade, and thoughtfully designed residences, we’re certain that Eleva’s offerings will appeal to this fast-growing area of North Brooklyn.”
The 1,000 s/f coffee bar features high ceilings and a modern aesthetic. A coffee lover’s paradise, Eleva serves expertly prepared espresso drinks, single-origin pour-overs, and an array of creative, custom-crafted coffee & tea mocktails. The neighborhood’s living room, Eleva is a light-filled, airy place to meet, work, eat, and chill. The fun, fresh menu is full of highlights from local bakeries, including Dank Brooklyn’s vegan banana bread and This Chick Bakes Lemon Ginger, Peanut Butter cookies and Chocolate Chip Vegan Brownies. Homemade soups, phyllo handpies, salads, and grain bowls can be the perfect meal any time of day. And the sustainable, seasonal coffees, homemade syrups, addictive hot chocolate, matcha, and Serendipitea will delight visitors at the cozy new location.
Eleva has unique, direct-trade relationships with coffee growers and farmers, thanks to founder Emilio Baltodano’s 15 years as a marketing executive at a coffee firm. “Our intention with Eleva is to uplift the farmers and communities where coffee is grown,” he said. Eleva focuses on giving back to the countries it partners with, and is currently raising $16,000 to build a school in Nicaragua. Another owner, Raffaello Van Couten, owns two North Brooklyn restaurants, Williamsburg’s Midnights and Claudia’s, two Brooklyn bars, Dolly’s Swing and Dive, and Honore Club, as well as Eleva.
