New York, NY According to the Mortgage Bankers of New York, (MBA of NY) they have re-established their Scholarship Foundation supporting graduate and undergraduate students majoring in real estate in NYC schools. Inactive since the financial crisis, the scholarship will again provide tuition assistance at local universities such as Fordham, Baruch, NYU and Columbia.
Richard Carr, a real estate capital markets veteran, will serve as chairman of the foundation. “I’m honored that the board has shown the confidence in me to lead this important initiative. Supporting the education of professionals in our industry goes to the core of our organizational identity and an essential next step in the evolution of the MBA of NY.”
Joining Carr in his efforts as officers of Foundation will be vice chairman and past MBA of NY president, Fred McDonald, treasurer Jonathan Strickberger of Morningstar and secretary Santoshi Botha of TD Bank.
The Scholarship Foundation will have an immediate impact with Scholarships being available to students for the September 2018 semester. Carr said, “Thanks to the support of the MBA of NY Executive Committee and Board of Governors, we’re thrilled to be in a position to begin accepting applications in March and to award scholarships this summer.” Applicants will be required to complete a qualifying essay and evidence a financial need.
