Washington, DC According to The Society of Industrial and Office Realtors, (SIOR) its board of directors has hired Jim Hirt, M.B.A., CAE, to the position of CEO. Hirt comes to SIOR as a Certified Association Executive (CAE).
“For more than 75 years, SIOR has represented excellence in commercial real estate. As the organization continues to grow as an international thought leader and industry expert, we look forward to leveraging Jim’s ability to foster creativity and build successful relationships to promote the success of SIOR and its members,” says Del Markward, SIOR Global president. “Jim was chosen from a strong pool of candidates through a comprehensive selection process. Among his many noteworthy attributes, Jim’s extensive experience in training and developing volunteer leaders, strategic plans, building relationship, and educational programming, along with his proven ability to effectively manage and inspire staff, makes him uniquely capable to build upon the status of SIOR and guide us to a bright future.”
Prior to joining SIOR, Hirt served as chief executive officer of the American Society of Appraisers, where he increased member retention to 96% and supported 53 U.S. chapters and four international chapters. Before this, he served in the following roles:
- Executive director of the American Association of Poison Control Centers and American Poison Center Foundation;
- Executive director of the Public Risk Management Association;
- General manager of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers and Education Foundation; and
- Executive director of AmeriCorps, Washington DC Chapter.

In addition to his extensive work experience, Hirt also serves on the California State University – Fuller DC Scholars Advisory Board and is a member of the American Society of Association Executives.
