East Meadow, NY The Nassau County Bar Association (NCBA) has appointed Donna-Marie Korth co-chair of the alternate dispute resolution (ADR) committee, effective immediately. Korth is a partner in the commercial, banking and real rstate litigation practice group at Certilman Balin.

The ADR committee recently produced a continuing legal education program with the elder law social services health advocacy committee of the NCBA at which Korth was a speaker. The program,“Turning the Tables on Litigation: Mediation Advocacy,” is meant to encourage both transactional attorneys and litigators to consider the use of mediation as a way of resolving the kinds of disputes that elder lawyers regularly face. Korth and her co-chair Will Sparks, Esq. plan to create and offer more programs about mediation for both members of the NCBA and the public sector.

Korth previously served on the Nassau County Bar Association’s judiciary committee. She is also the former dean of the Nassau Academy of Law, and has moderated and lectured at several CLE seminars. She is former chair/vice-chair of the appellate practice committee and a long time organizer and judge of the annual Moot Court competition among area law schools.   She also serves on the Commercial Mediation Panel in Nassau County Supreme Court and the Superstorm Sandy Mediation Panel in Eastern District of the United States District Court.

Korth graduated, magna cum laude, from St. John’s University with an undergraduate degree in accounting and graduated, with honors, from that University’s School of Law. She is admitted to practice in New York State and before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the United States Supreme Court.  She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and Nassau County Bar Association.
