Poughkeepsie, NY The Chazen Companies was established in 1947 and has five office locations in New York and Tennessee. They were recently honored with multiple awards highlighting the company’s commitment to excellence as an employer and provider of professional services.
In December 2016, Chazen was recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work” by the Albany Business Review for the fourth time and received “Top Workplace” honors from the Albany Times Union in April 2017. Both awards recognize Chazen’s achievements in creating a positive work environment attracting and retaining employees through a combination of benefits and institutional culture.
In early 2017, Chazen was announced as a Top Engineering Firm by the Albany Business Review and Top Landscape Architecture Firm by the Central New York Business Journal. The awards are based on company performance and growth from the previous year and affirms their dedication to professional excellence and delivering quality services.
Chazen then received two Diamond Awards, the highest level achievable, in Engineering Excellence from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC NY) for two recently completed projects – The Kaal Rock Connector Feasibility Study project and RSR Corp.’s Wet Electrostatic Precipitator project. Industry experts judged the projects on a rigorous set of criteria, which included complexity, innovation and value to society.
The Kaal Rock Connector Feasibility Study project won the award in the category of Studies, Research and Consulting Engineering Services. The project assessed the feasibility of constructing a walkway around Kaal Rock Point. Chazen’s team studied the site, geology of the rock and past design efforts and developed a walkway design that connects two waterfronts and allows users experience a “million dollar” view of the Hudson River.
RSR Corp.’s Wet Electrostatic Precipitator (WESP) project in Middletown won the award in the category of Industrial and Manufacturing Process and Facilities. Chazen supported RSR from planning through construction for the WESP project. The WESP technology removes pollution from the air using electricity and moisture. Chazen utilized 3D laser scanning to create a computer model of the existing equipment and structural components and then used the model to design new structures, that maintained cleared access and forklift traffic as well as designed a 36-ft. wide, 9-ft. deep and 80-ft. long steel truss to position new ductwork and workers walkway across a railroad spur.
