The firm has a reputation for successfully representing clients in real estate, land use and zoning, tax, trusts and estates, tax certiorari, corporate and commercial law, construction law and litigation matters. Jeffrey Forchelli is the founder and managing partner of the firm. His practice concentrates on complex real estate and land use matters. He has served on the boards of many organizations, both charitable and governmental, and is currently a trustee of Brooklyn Law School and a trustee and treasurer of the board of Wagner College. Forchelli is also a vice chairman of the Nassau County Republican Committee. Forchelli was selected for inclusion in Who's Who in American Law, and he is consistently included on the "Who's Who in Law" listing by Long Island Business News.
Daniel Deegan heads up the firm's industrial development agency (IDA), municipal incentives and government relations practices, with particular emphasis on facilitating and implementing responsible real estate development projects. He specializes in real estate development law, zoning law, municipal incentives/IDA law, and government relations/municipal law.
Deegan is on the board of the New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) and is vice chairman of the Long Island Chapter for Nassau County. He has served as president of the Glen Cove Rotary. He is also a member of the Commercial Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island (CIBS) and was honored as the 2010 Associate Member of the Year. He is a frequent lecturer to trade groups and others on the law and practice relating to economic development incentives and industrial development agencies and was published in the New York Real Estate Journal.
Kathleen Deegan Dickson concentrates her practice in the areas of real estate development matters, and, in particular, land use and zoning law. Dickson has an extensive track record of success with and before municipal boards and agencies on projects throughout Long Island. She has a reputation for effectiveness and integrity in the pre-hearing meetings and outreach to municipal planning staffs and civic groups that are now a must in Long Island's current development climate.
She is former counsel to the city of Glen Cove planning andzoning boards, and currently represents many developers, property owners, corporations and private individuals in all types of matters involving real property transactions, zoning and land use. She is a member of the American and the NYS Bar Associations, as well as the Nassau County Women's Bar Association, WEDLI (Women Economic Developers of Long Island), LIBI & HIA.
James Ricca concentrates his practice in the areas of banking and finance law, foreclosures, creditor's rights, trusts and estates, corporate law, and real estate litigation. He counsels individuals, small businesses and institutional lenders and has significant experience representing private and institutional lenders on large commercial mortgages.
Ricca is a member of the NYS and Nassau County Bar Associations and is chairman of the Queens County Bar Association's Banking Law Committee. Ricca has authored articles concerning foreclosures and banking law and has given his time to various community groups including lecturing to first time home buyers. Ricca has been recognized by the Neighborhood Housing Development Corp. for pro bono services, has served as a volunteer mentor with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Organization and as a Trustee on the Board of Jamaica Hospital. He was recently honored by the Long Island Business News' "50 around 50" (2010) awards as a Long Island business leader.
Brian Sahn is a partner in the firm's real estate practice group where he concentrates his practice in all facets of commercial real estate transactions, including representing clients in purchase and sale agreements; acquisition financing transactions; industrial/economic development projects; and commercial lease agreements in the office, retail and industrial markets. He has experience in real estate brokerage matters, including representing clients in connection with real estate portfolio management service agreements, corporate global solutions agreements, lease administration agreements and disputes over commissions and entitlements.
Sahn represents several large public and private companies concerning their real estate portfolios, involving the management, disposition and acquisition of corporate real estate holdings, frequently involving complex environmental, title and facilities problems. In addition, he represents many clients in connection with ground-up real estate development projects, and institutional lenders in commercial real estate and multifamily loan transactions. Sahn also has represented defense contractors in facility closures and divestitures, and in negotiations with local redevelopment agencies and municipal representatives. Sahn is also on the board of directors of the USGBC-LI chapter.
Peter Mineo served as a North Hempstead deputy town attorney, where he was counsel to the board of zoning and appeals and building department on zoning matters and litigation. Since joining the firm in 1978, he has continued to concentrate in zoning, land use, municipal law and litigation.
Mineo represents a variety of private clients, including many national corporate chains and municipalities. He is the village attorney for three villages and has been retained as special counsel by a number of other municipalities, particularly on zoning and other land use issues and litigation. Mineo is a member of the NYS and Nassau County Bar Associations and has written articles about and spoken at numerous professional seminars on zoning topics.
Steven Gaebler is a partner in the banking and finance department and the real estate department. He concentrates his practice in commercial lending and commercial real estate transactions. He represents several major financial institutions in complex mortgage and asset based lending transactions.
including transactions involving construction lending, letters of credit, IDA and other bond financing, leasehold mortgage financing, factor financing, condominium and cooperative financing, revolving lines of credit, financing of large industrial, retail, office and multifamily facilities, participation agreements between landlords, as well as representation of lenders in workout and restructuring agreements. Gaebler is a member of the NYS and Nassau County Bar Associations.
Joseph Asselta is co-head of the firm's construction law department since the merger of his former partnership Agovino & Asselta, LLP into the firm.
Asselta represents clients in all segments of the construction industry including owners, developers, financial institutions, design professionals, general contractors, construction managers, government contractors, trade contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, equipment rental companies, insurers and sureties (on both public and private projects). A significant portion of his practice also includes the review, drafting and negotiation of construction contracts and related project documents. A member of the American Bar Association's Construction Law Forum and Fidelity and Surety Law Committee, as well as the NYS Bar Association's Construction and Surety Law Division, Asselta is active in a number of construction and surety industry associations. He was the chair of the Bar Association of Nassau County, Construction Law Committee from 2001-2003.
Frank Brennan concentrates his practice in the areas of construction law, commercial litigation and labor and employment law. He represents clients in all segments of the construction industry.
including contractors, construction managers, owners, developers, suppliers and equipment rental companies (on both public and private projects) relating to claims of non-payment, extra work, delay, changed conditions, defective work, default, termination, mechanic's liens and performance and payment bonds. Brennan also provides representation in connection with negotiation, drafting and implementation of collective bargaining agreements (CBA) and project labor agreements (PLA). Brennan is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and is currently a member of the Construction Law and Labor & Employment Law committees.
