2013-03-18
New York, NY - On Thursday, April 25 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Professional Women in Construction (PWC) will present its annual Awards Reception honoring international real estate firm Hines on the 7 Bryant Park project, an iconic new trophy-class office tower being built in midtown Manhattan. The 28-story, 470,000 s/f steel and glass tower will offer direct and expansive views of Bryant Park as well as the historic New York Public Library.
Turner Construction Company is the general contractor; first occupancy is planned for the first quarter of 2015.
PWC President Lenore Janis said, "This project will go far in bringing jobs, companies both large and small, and tax revenue to midtown Manhattan. We applaud Hines for giving a tremendous boost to New York City’s economy and for providing new work opportunities."
Janis noted also the leading role women are playing in the project: CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) is serving as the exclusive leasing agent for the building, with the firm's CEO for the Tri-State Region, Mary Ann Tighe, leading the team in marketing and leasing efforts. It is designed by renowned architects Henry N. Cobb and Yvonne Szeto of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners.
With offices in 104 cities in 18 countries, and controlled assets valued at approximately $23.8 billion, Hines is one of the largest real estate organizations in the world. The firm's historical and current portfolio of projects that are underway, completed, acquired and managed includes 1,208 properties representing more than 488 million s/f of office, residential, mixed-use, industrial, hotel, medical and sports facilities, as well as large, master-planned communities and land developments.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that 7 Bryant Park "will bring more top-tier, cutting-edge commercial space, and more leading companies and their tax revenue to midtown Manhattan."
Tommy Craig, senior managing director of Hines’ Tri-State operations said "Our company and its ownership families are excited to be part of this signature project."
Congresswoman Carol Maloney called the project "a welcome addition" that will "help keep New York a world-class business destination while preserving the urban oasis that is Bryant Park."
