2nd Annual Glenn Markman Legacy 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament
New York, NY According to Cushman & Wakefield, the firm’s future leaders group will return to host “Markman Madness,” the second annual Glenn Markman Legacy 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Wednesday, July 19th at Basketball City in Lower Manhattan. The Glenn Markman Legacy tournament will honor the memory of former Cushman & Wakefield vice chairman Glenn Markman, a real estate professional, respected industry-wide for his contribution in elevating the Brooklyn commercial real estate market.
“This is the ideal event to celebrate Glenn's legacy, because it combines his love of bringing people together and his passion for the sport of basketball. All proceeds will support The Glenn Markman Foundation which enriches lives by supporting arts and athletic programs for young adults,” said Jan Testori-Markman, Glenn’s wife.
The tournament will be held at Basketball City, located at 299 South St., from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Open to any and all who would like to participate, the event will feature 28 teams, made of four players, going head-to-head on 7 basketball courts, with proceeds donated to the Glenn Markman Memorial Fund. Sponsorship opportunities range from conference (court sponsor), 3-point contest, half-court shot, apparel branding, player experience and VIP courtside. In addition to basketball, the event will feature food trucks, indoor/outdoor games for fans, live music and other entertainment.

Markman, who passed away in 2014, had a strong affinity for basketball, crediting much of his professional success to his experience playing basketball at the Bensonhurst Jewish Community House and Kutscher’s Sports Academy. Along with Bruce Mosler, Cushman & Wakefield’s chairman of Global Brokerage, Markman spearheaded the Brooklyn Nets’ relocation of its offices to downtown Brooklyn and masterminded the creation of a $45 million training center for the team in Sunset Park’s Industry City. Additionally, he also approached the National Basketball Association (NBA) to initiate the idea of an NBA themed retail store – as the NBA’s exclusive representative, he negotiated a lease for its 35,000 s/f retail store at 666 Fifth Ave.
