Manning Squires Hennig awarded construction management role for Canandaigua Finger Lakes resort project

April 13, 2015 - Upstate New York
Commercial construction firm Manning Squires Hennig (MSH) has been selected to manage the building of the Canandaigua Finger Lakes Resort, one of Ontario County's most high-profile projects.
MSH, which is based in Batavia, will serve as the construction manager for the project, which will overlook Canandaigua Lake. MSH's responsibilities include the construction of a five-story, 200,000 s/f steel structure that will serve as the centerpiece of a resort and hotel complex — which will eventually feature 111 hotel rooms and 44 upscale waterfront condominiums. Canandaigua Finger Lakes Resort, which will be located at the site of the former Steamboat Landing restaurant, will also include a restaurant, waterfront meeting and banquet facilities, office space, a 4,250 s/f destination spa featuring wellness and lifestyle programs, a fitness center, a wine tasting facility and an outdoor pool.
"We are honored to work on this project, and it is proof that our firm continues to grow and evolve," said Gary Squires, president of Manning Squires Hennig. "While our concrete and masonry projects continue to be a foundation of our business, we are increasingly taking the lead as the CM or GC for a number of high-profile projects, including the Canandaigua Finger Lakes Resort."
The first phase of the project started October 20th with groundbreaking on the foundations. Foundations will be complete mid-February. Structural Steel will begin in February and should be completed in July of 2015. The firm will self-perform concrete footings, walls, slabs, concrete masonry unit (CMU) and cultured stone.
Canandaigua Finger Lakes Resort is located at 205 Lake Shore Drive, Canandaigua, NY 14424. It is expected to open in spring 2016. The property is owned by David Genecco and Robert Murphy.
