Eastern Consolidated's Famularo and Geoghegan handle 1,800 s/f lease

November 24, 2014 - New York City
Eastern Consolidated has arranged a long-term lease for Freshbites, a new health-casual restaurant by food service veterans Bobby Gelestathis and Chris Zamfotis, at 56 East 34th St. in Midtown South. The restaurant will occupy a 1,800 s/f retail space on the ground floor and 2,000 s/f in the basement. The property features 12-ft. high ceilings, 20 ft. of frontage along 34th St., and new HVAC and electrical systems.
"Freshbite's organically sourced and New York City inspired menu of salads, sandwiches, and cold brewed teas will be a great addition to the neighborhood and a unique option amidst existing corporate franchises in the area such as Dunkin Donuts, Guy & Gallard, Europa Café and Pret A Manger," said James Famularo, senior director of the retail leasing division for Eastern Consolidated, who along with associate director Jeff Geoghegan represented the property's owner, Markwood Management, in the transaction. "This location along 34th St. positions the new concept between the major residential and commercial thoroughfares along Park and Madison Ave., which command high, daily foot traffic."
Cosmo Montemurro of Murro Realty represented the tenant.
The property at 56 East 34th St. is situated next to the Beth Israel Medical Group and Yeshiva University, and in close proximity to the Empire State Building and Hunter College. Other neighboring tenants include: Cold Stone Creamery, Starbucks, Duane Reade, Citibank, Wells Fargo, Staples, Boom Fitness, New York Sports Club, and Equinox, among others.
