Kaufman Astoria Studios goes green with METRO biodiesel

Kaufman Astoria Studios, the studio complex in Astoria, has decided to green its growing empire by switching its heating fuel to METRO's Greenheat, a blend of heating oil and biodiesel made from domestic and renewable sources like recycled restaurant grease. Kaufman Astoria Studios is now the largest commercial user of Greenheat in the city of New York. Kaufman Astoria Studios will be purchasing approximately 80,000 gallons of Greenheat annually, eliminating 70,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, displacing 4,000 gallons of petroleum and reducing air emissions like sulfur and particulate matter. "When we approached Kaufman Astoria Studios, our longtime heating oil customer, with the opportunity to switch to a cleaner, greener, more renewable heating product, they jumped at the opportunity, immediately recognizing the positive impact on air quality," said Gene Pullo, president of METRO.
