Racanelli Construction Co. awarded $20 million YMCA project

Racanelli Construction Company, Inc., a leading third-generation construction management, general contractor and design/build resource for commercial, industrial, retail, medical, pre-engineered and multifamily housing projects, has been awarded a major new construction project by the Brookhaven-Roe YMCA (Holtsville, N.Y.). The company won the project, valued at $20 million, in a competitive bid process. Serving as a general contractor/construction manager on the project, Racanelli will construct a new YMCA facility. To be constructed on a total lot size of 3.99 acres will be a 64,929 s/f building with 160 parking spaces. The two and a half story building will consist of: classrooms; multi-purpose rooms; fitness room; men's and women's locker rooms; teen center; gymnasium; 40' x 75' deep, six lane swimming pool; running track overlooking the gym; one and a half story rock climbing wall; and offices. The building, comprised of brick, block, precast stone and curtain walls, will be equipped with an elevator. As part of the project, Racanelli is also providing extensive site work and the development of a 45' x 50' playground area. Overseeing the project will be Racanelli president Nick Racanelli, along with his associates, Ron Whelan, Lou Lemoine and Christine Wright. The project, which is slated for completion in September, has been met with great enthusiasm from the Village of Patchogue where the new YMCA facility is being constructed. Once completed, the new YMCA facility will be a dream come true for many local children. It was made possible by the generous donation of the Swezey family who donated the land and, along with others, $10 million to help finance the project. The YMCA project, located at the beginning of the Village of Patchogue's downtown area, is part of the Village's Main Street Program designed to renovate the community over the next decade.
