IREM chapter 58 president's message

This past October, I along with the chapter's IREM association executive, Nanette Stubbe, and Steven Savoca of Konar Properties had the honor of representing our chapter at the IREM Fall Business and Governance meetings held in Chicago, Ill. The purpose of the conference was to: 1. Learn more about the IREM's governance process and the future of the institute. 2. Participate in chapter leadership forums, as well as regional and international member forums. 3. Participate in any of the 30 educational sessions. The conference was also the setting for the celebration of IREM's 75th anniversary, a monumental achievement based on 75 years of hard work and dedication by the organization's members, volunteers and chapters! On Thursday, October 30th chapter 58 held its annual installation of officers and awards dinner. The event had a large turn out and was attended by members, vendors, contractors, friends and our regional VP, Jesse Holland. The following chapter officers were installed for 2009 in addition to my presidency: * VP: Steven Savoca, CPM *VP/education treasurer: Robert Miller, Jr., CPM * Secretary/treasurer VP membership: Stephen Mingus, CPM * Member at large: Anthony DiBiase * Member at large: Matt Caren. Awards were presented to the following individuals: * CPM of the Year: Robert Miller, Jr. of Belmont Management. * ARM of the Year: Michelle Addy of Signature Housing Solutions. * AMO Firm of the Year: Mayzon Corp. * President's Award: Scott Hill of Uniland Development. * Vendor of the Year: National Fire Adjustment Co. Our chapter also recognized the following member's anniversaries: * Nancy Butts, CPM of Crofton Associates - 20 years. * Scott Hill, CPM of Uniland Development - 15 years. * Robert Miller, Jr., CPM of Belmont Management - 15 years. Congratulations to all! We also took the opportunity to meet two new "Friends of IREM" Terry & Susan LaRue of Rochester Custom Exteriors, Inc. On Thursday, December 4th chapter 58 closed out the year by hosting the annual "Toys for Tots" luncheon. The event had its highest attendance ever, which meant the representative Lt. Dutcher, from the U.S. Marine Corps. had the most toys ever to take back with them. Many thanks to everyone for their continued participation and support! Happy Holidays! Nicholas Harris, Jr., CPM, is the 2008 chapter 58 president of the Institute for Real Estate Management (IREM) and vice president of operations at Regional Facilities Management Services, LLC, Fairport, N.Y.
