USGBC-LI host Home and Garden Expo. at Stony Brook University

Advocacy committee chair Vince Capogna and interior designer Natalie Weinstein deliver a presentation about the new LEED for Homes program to homeowners at the Stony Brook Home and Garden Expo in March.
Stony Brook, NY Homeowners were treated to a special educational seminars hosted by USGBC-LI at last month's Home and Garden Expo, held at Stony Brook University.
Working with interior designer Natalie Weinstein, USGBC-LI members presented green living tips to an audience of local families interested in making their homes safer and more environmentally friendly. The presentations were held as part of the "Learning and Living Green - Long Island" special feature at the expo.
Membership committee member Pat Harper spoke about ways to increase the energy efficiency of pre-existing homes and new construction and how to lower monthly utility bills; Advocacy committee chair Vince Capogna spoke about USGBC's new LEED for Homes program and the economic and environmental benefits of LEED certification; and Sponsorship committee chair Russ Eisenberg discussed the green initiatives undertaken by local townships and how these initiatives impact homeowners.
"This event helped us introduce one of USGBC'S newest accomplishments, LEED for Homes, to local homeowners. It was great to see the community interest in energy conservation," said Eisenberg.
