FLAnk to complete 7-story condominium at 385 West 12th St.

Manhattan-based designer/developer FLAnk is working on its newest luxury residential building at 385 West 12th St.—a seven-story, twelve-home condominium with a significant rooftop amenity situated between Washington and West Sts. in the West Village. Once completed, the building's distinguishing characteristic will be its untreated copper cladding. "The modulating copper panels will slowly acquire a patina over the next three decades while deliberately sized and detailed glasswork will remain constant. The glass panels are carefully calibrated to provide controlled privacy to the domestic layouts behind," said Mick Walsdorf, principal and co-founder of FLAnk. "A subtle jog in the facade differentiates the eastern from the western flats while opening a vista towards the Hudson River from corner windows in the eastern apartments," said Jon Kully, also a principal and co-founder of FLAnk. The facade system is being designed in conjunction with Front, the innovative design consultant. When completed in the first quarter of 2009, 385 West 12th St. will be comprised of four town homes, six full floor flats and two duplex penthouses. The three and four-bedroom residences will range in size from 2,526 s/f to 4,382 s/f, with combinations that can yield 8,400 s/f. Technology and lifestyle simplification are central to the design process. Residents will be able to operate their homes remotely via Control 4 home automation operating system installed by CYTEXONE. Reid Price, managing director of ID Marketing Group of Brown Harris Stevens, is the marketing and exclusive sales agent for 385 West 12th St. This project is being built with the goal of achieving LEED certification and a portion of its sales proceeds will benefit the Catalog for Giving, a non-profit organization based in New York City.
