09-30-2013 - Bright 'n Green selected for 2013 NYC Climate Week Tour

September 23, 2013 - Green Buildings

Bright 'n Green, 67 Brighton First Lane - Brooklyn, NY

Bright 'n Green, a net zero energy multi-use development one half block from Brighton Beach Ave. and close to the famous boardwalk, has been named as one of the projects being showcased at NYC Climate Week 2013, http://bit.ly/bngcwnyc, (September 23- September 30). Complimentary tours of Bright 'n Green will be conducted on Monday, September 23rd, starting at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Visitors will have the opportunity to visit the groundbreaking project, which is being built to the highest sustainable standards.
Already fully framed with super-insulated wall systems, triple-paned windows and solar panels in place, enough energy is being generated at the site to run the construction full time while sending a surplus of ultimately reimbursable electricity into the grid. The developers have taken meticulous steps to not only meet Passive House criteria, but to ultimately qualify for a Living Building Challenge certification, utilizing such organic infrastructure elements as grey and storm water recycling and a composting system for solid waste.
The project has already earned EPA and OER certifications and received a Green Site Award from the Mayor's Office of Environmental Remediation. When completed, Bright 'n Green will additionally qualify for an Energy Star rating and meet LEED Platinum standards. Bright 'n Green at 67 Brighton First Ln., is located on a pedestrian-only lane, one half block west from Brighton Beach Ave. Public transportation to the building is available via the Q and B trains, with stops at Ocean Parkway and Brighton Beach Ave. or the N and F trains to Coney Island/Stillwell Aves.
